This is my essay which I’ve just completed. Please correct my faults if you can and give me your opinion. Thank so much !

TOPIC: HOW MANY TYPES OF ADVERTISING ARE THERE? PRESENT THE FEATURES AND EXAMPLES OF EACH TYPE. ANALYZE THE APPROPRIATENESS OF THEM.

Nowadays, almost companies can’t lack advertising to introduce their products or services to market. There are many types of advertising. Each type has different role and appropriateness. So, this essay will focus on three types in three paragraphs. Introducing about print advertising in the first paragraph; and then, introducing mass media advertising in the second paragraph; and finally, introducing outdoor advertising in the third paragraph.

Today, advertising products via print media is a common practice. The print media include all newspapers, newsletters, magazines, booklets, pamphlets, and other printed publications. The role of print advertising is to offers basic information about the company, their products or services to the selected audiences. Most print media are local. Magazines, on the other hand, have always been national, although there is a trend today toward localization and specialization. There are a huge amount newspapers and magazines are published everyday. But only some types tend to a particular group people. For examples, sporty newspapers are written for men, teenage magazines for teenagers, etc. Therefore, select the right type of newspapers or magazines is important decision of the company, which may reach larger selected audiences. According to a statistic, in Vietnam, at present, there are about 600 newspapers and magazines. Almost companies, which are operating in Vietnam, are advertising via print media; for examples, Vinamilk, FPT, Honda, etc.

Mass media advertising is popular most and impact in people’s awareness of the companies and their products. This type includes TV, radio and internet. Mass media advertising is more than simply persuasive messages. Through text and through images, the ad conveys values and beliefs, and these have meanings for those who read, listen or watch them. In this type, cost is the main obstacle for companies which want to advertise on TV. Moreover, just as print ad, mass media ad also has many channels tend to many different objects. Consequently, if the company advertises with reasonable duration and right channel, the company will not waste more money and their advertising still effective. Due to the great role of mass media in the life, nowadays, there are many companies use mass media for their main publicity. For instance, Unilever present their products as OMO and Comfort, P&G with Tide and Downy, etc.

Outdoor advertising, one of the oldest and most enduring forms of advertising, is advertising on signs that are located outdoors in public places. This form includes billboards, trade fairs, sporting evens, etc. Outdoor advertising captures the viewer’s attention 24 hours a day. True, it has limited coverage. But a well-planned outdoor campaign can effectively cover most major markets. The main features of this type are brevity of the message and cannot target customer. So, the message usually is slogan of the company, such as Canon Corporation with the slogan is “Delighting you always” or Toyota with sentence “Moving forward”, etc.

In short, using which types and using on which time is important decision of the company. In my opinion, with carefully choosing, the company can get what they need from all the variable advertisements

Why deny that Obama is not a socialist at heart? ?

Posted Thursday, February 19, 2009 by admin

Obama’s socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. Later, the Chicago DSA newsletter reported that Obama, as a state senator, showed up to eulogize Saul Mendelson, one of the “champions” of “Chicago’s democratic left” and a long-time socialist activist. Obama’s stint as a “community organizer” in Chicago has gotten some attention, but his relationship with the DSA socialists, who groomed and backed him, has been generally ignored.

In his 1995 autobiography Dreams From My Father, Obama reveals that during his student years at New York’s Columbia University he “went to socialist conferences at Cooper Union and African cultural fairs in Brooklyn.” The socialist conferences he cites were those of the SSC. As Trevor London observes, “Obama speaks of ‘conferences’ plural, indicating [that] his attendance was not the result of accident or youthful curiosity.”

Co-founded in 1992 by Daniel Cantor (a former staffer for Jesse Jackson’s 1988 presidential campaign) and Joel Rogers (a sociology and law professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison), the New Party was a Marxist political coalition whose objective was to endorse and elect leftist public officials — most often Democrats. The New Party’s short-term objective was to move the Democratic Party leftward, thereby setting the stage for the eventual rise of new Marxist third party.

Most New Party members hailed from the Democratic Socialists of America and the militant organization ACORN. The party’s Chicago chapter also included a large contingent from the Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members.

In 1995 Barack Obama sought the New Party’s endorsement for his 1996 state senate run. He was successful in obtaining that endorsement, and he used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers.

McCain Featured In Iran-Contra Group’s Newsletter?

Posted Thursday, February 12, 2009 by admin

A newsletter from 1984 provides more embarrassing evidence of John McCain’s relationship with the U.S. Council on World Freedom, a group that was involved in funding militant anti-communists and espoused some anti-Semitic views.

McCain’s face graces the front page of the group’s “World Freedom Report,” published on Dec. 15, 1984, a copy of which was obtained from the research library at the University of Kansas. The front page also features a reprint of an article McCain penned that same month for Reader’s Digest.

McCain served on the advisory board of the Council on World Freedom, which funded and provided arms to what the Associated Press described as “ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America.” The group also “aided rebels trying to overthrow the leftist government of Nicaragua. That landed the group in the middle of the Iran-Contra affair and in legal trouble with the Internal Revenue Service, which revoked the charitable organization’s tax exemption.”

When McCain’s connection to the Council for World Freedom received its first blast of press attention earlier this month, his campaign suggested to the Politico that McCain “disassociated himself” from the group in 1984 “when questions were raised about its activities.”

But the group’s tax filing in 1985, covering the previous year, lists McCain as a member of the council’s advisory board. And in October 1985, a States News Service report placed McCain “at a Washington awards ceremony staged by the council.”

Moreover, in 1986, McCain himself told the Phoenix New Times that his reason for leaving the group merely had to do with a lack of time.

Asked by the AP this year about McCain’s alleged efforts to distance himself from the council in both 1984 and 1986 (when McCain had to ask to have his name removed from the group’s stationary), founder John Singlaub said: “That’s a surprise to me. … I don’t ever remember hearing about his resigning.”

Though the group’s founder also said it was possible that McCain had asked to resign and he hadn’t heard about the “housekeeping” details, the Council’s unearthed newsletter from late 1984 would seem to support Singlaub’s — and not McCain’s — memory of the events.

* How can McCain continue to question the associations of anyone when he has some of the shadiest in the world?
Lyle G – what does that even mean? Do you even know anything about the Contras? They were death squads, led by fascist maniacs. They were fighting a “left-leaning” government. THat does not mean communist or socialist. I n fact they were democratically elected. And do you know how we funded them? By selling weapons to Iran!
So what the hell is wrong with you then?

I’m a 16-year- old junior from Texas. I’m homeschooled but have taken 4 classes at my local community college and will take 12 next year. I hope to take 5 ap tests this summer. I have not taken any subject tests yet but I plan to take some this Spring. I have a 2250 on the SAT (I just got my scores back). I have a 4.0 GPA from my co-op (where a lot of homeschoolers come together to learn from homeschool moms who are educated on the subject they teach) and a 4.0 from the community college, having taken arabic 1 & 2, algebra, and US history. I got a 214 on the PSAT so I might also be a national merit scholar. I’m in the homeschool national honor society (Eta Sigma Aplha) and I hope to become the Community Service Organizer. I’m trying to earn the congressional bronze medal. I am the co-president of my debate team and mentor newbie debaters. I also am a regional champion in debate. I participate in the Model UN, specifically the Harvard Model UN and the Texas Model UN, as the president of the homeschool UN club. I participate in boy scouts and hope to get eagle. I have been a scribe and a patrol leader, having won best booth in show at a scout show and wining the national honor patrol award and the troop honor patrol award. I play varsity tennis. I am the editor of my troop’s newsletter. I am in my church’s choir and am president of the boy’s choir. I am the founder and editor of my co-ops yearbook with around 200 kids. During the summer, I participate in debate camp, boy scout camp, my church’s vbs, and i travel alot, usually to egypt to immerse myself in arabic. I used to have a jobas my church’s av operator, but then I started doing it for free. Which brings me to my volunteer work. Besides all the stuff I do for scouts and the honor society, I am the reader for my church, as well as a sunday school helper. I;ve gone on 7 mission trips with my church to help deaf children in rio bravo mexico. I campaigned for John McCain for 3 hours, tuesdays and thursday, for 5 weeks, and I volunteer at a homeless shelter every month for 5 hours. I think that’s it. What do you think? oh, also, I’ll be interning for my congressman this summer.

Left 4 Dead Short – “The Witch”

Posted Tuesday, February 10, 2009 by admin

A quickie I made after playing some L4D online campaigns. I tried out a simple, very stylized look for the short and I think it turned out well. (even though the backgrounds are a bit bleh.)

Animated by me and audio credits are listed in the credits. Enjoy!

Ron Paul supporters will you please explain this new controversy?

Apparently new evidence (besides the newsletters) has come forth about Ron Paul’s ****** past.

How do you think his campaign will address this most troubling issue?

This is the direct way an interest group tries to influence gov’t?
