Isnt it getting creepier by the minute?Has any other candidate in US history attracted such mass hysteria?

Posted Monday, July 13, 2009 by admin

I read an article on Obama campaign newsletter a.k.a newsweek that pastors are joing in a conference call EVERYDAY to pray for Obama, for his safety, clearness of mind(whatever that means),and that his plane lands safely(Huh?!)
Isnt this cult getting creeeeeepier by the minute. First the faintings, now this. I understand if u keep a candidate in ur prayers, but having a conference call prayer (each day led by a different pastor)Everyday?!
Has any other candidate in US history attracted such mass hysteria?

Kennedy was before my time…but I agree this is creepy. It’s like some alien mind control technology, and only a few people have a gene that protects them.

In Australia, we’re just waiting for the outbreak of a 2nd US Civil War, seriously, you guys are getting into it!

Yeah, he will be the start of something big for the U.S., perhaps the ban on religion that has been foretold.

In factuality, no. That is why his appearances have drawn record crowds. Whether anyone likes it or not, it has attracted mass hysteria. Just stating facts……..

It does seem a bit much. Too bad these “people of God” don’t pray that Obama miraculously gains insight into foreign policy and dealing effectively with terrorists. Their prayers are drastically needed to benefit ALL Americans, not just Obama and his campaign. Geesh, it is totally out of control when the clergy band together to play partisan politics with God.

no mass hysteria, just a lot of exaggeration.

This hysteria is a wave and will ultimately die off. Once the storm is over, people will know who will finally win.

I agree with you. That is what is so bad about thing whole thing. He denounced his church( 4 days) … which to me btw means nothing.. after spending 20 yr worshipping there. Even his speech tonight sounded like sermon to me. A bunch of words that led no where. It seems very much like a cult.

maybe not a candidate but Nixon attracted alot of attention with Watergate and ending the war, and his business with Agnoo.

Bill Clinton, alot of media attention when he got a head from his secretary, causing him to be Impeached

A little note: Obama resigned his church membership a few days ago.

  • yutsnark said on Aug 27th, 2009 at 7:18 AM:

I don’t recall anything like this for John Kennedy back in 1960, but probably he’d have drawn enthusiastic crowds, had he run for re-election. People did go bonkers for Robert Kennedy and Gene McCarthy in 68. FDR was before my time, but I recently saw a documentary about him, and it was clear that many saw him as heroic.

  • June bugger said on Aug 27th, 2009 at 1:10 PM:

People are also praying for him NOT to be president.
God will do what he wants…..
what he knows is best for our country no matter what
God please stop Obama from being president is my prayer daily.
We toss the coin but God decides if it is heads or tails.

  • tsopolly said on Aug 27th, 2009 at 5:51 PM:

I don’t think it is hysteria, but I sure do wonder if God listens to those types of prayers. If he does, then there goes the whole democratic system right out the window.

You know what, you have to respect other people’s beliefs and way of praying. Its not for you to judge or anybody else. I think those pastors maybe angels sent down from God to help Barack Obama, you don’t know. Every time anyone prays, they’re an angel sent down from heaven in my opinion. Let those people do just be without criticizing them & accusing them of being a cult & saying it in a bad way. As you know some of the most powerful African-Americans died because they wanted to bring about change in America e.g. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. & Malcolm X. These two were very different in their belief system but their life was cut shortly because of an assasian. I know back then there was a lot more racism but sometimes people think that history repeats itself, just think maybe there is just one crazy person or member of the KKK that would kill Barack Obama because of his race. I pray for him right now & I urge you to also that he’ll be safe and live a longetivity of life with grace & integrity. One prayer can spread through thousands or more. Never underestimate the power of prayer. If you’re in a different religion that doesn’t pray or don’t have a religion at all then believe in the power of hope. Barack Obama spreads the words the power of hope and you can find that in prayer, no matter how big or small. I want to wrap this up because I know this getting too long but I would love it if you respected other people’s love for a canidate instead of being repulsed by it.

I admit it…I drank the Kool Aid LOL. Actually according to my mom the Kennedy’s drew this kind of attention.

If pastor’s want to pray for anyone everyday that is fine with me. Whatever makes them feel good and doesn’t hurt others is okay with me. Live and let live.

I love how people that don’t like Obama like to call his supporters all kinds of names. The more talk there is, the better. Like they say “there is no such thing as bad publicity”.

Call me a cultist, I drank the Kool Aid, I’m brainwashed, whatever you like. Bottom line is that I looked at the issues and the candidate’s stands on the issues from their own websites and didn’t rely on anyone else’s opinions or words to decide who I felt was the best candidate.

Anyone that chose their candidate by any other means, shame on you!

The history books say that Kennedy and Rosevelt did. I have seen many of Kennedy’s speeches on film and he was very much like Obama, very popular with younger people. Perhaps that is why the prayers. People are worried about the state of things and want out of war. People want to feel safe again. They don’t want their husbands, sons and grandsons going off to fight in an unless war. They want to have a little job security and money left over after their bills are paid. They don’t have that now. Obama has given them hope.

    Vote Obama 2008

  • Máire Siobhán said on Sep 8th, 2009 at 7:05 PM:

Shrub courted the right wing Christians, and you should have read the stuff in the media during his first campaign. I’m an athiest, but I will say that the pastors for Obama are at least in a positive vein for his well being, whereas the religious nuts for Shrub were filled with negativity towards the non-believers in the country (their fellow countrymen).

Believe it or not, Kennedy’s run for the White House was at least as revolutionary and was as closely followed by the media and watched by the populace. Kennedy was the first Catholic to run for the presidency, and the fear was that he (or any Catholic president) would allow the Pope to be the defacto head of the US through him, and would try to inflict Catholicism and Catholic morals on the country (imagine legislating one’s religious beliefs!) It was hugely controversial, and he barely squeeked by with a win.

He was also very charismatic–well educated, cultured, polished, well spoken. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his book, “Profiles in Courage,” before he was even president. We have not seen the likes of him since.

So, yeah–some of us have seen this before.

Dude I think what you’re saying is it’s mass hysteria.
And so is all this “a revolution” ****.
I think people are watching “The Bonedocks” a little too much.

And not to sound raceist, but what revolution do black people want? Isn’t life good for you now?
I mean I know there’s some dumbass white people out there that still don’t know we’re all the same.
But what’s this revolution I keep hearing about?
I gotta say it seems like a bunch of crying ****.
Look around, it’s not’s so bad for blacks right now.
Shit pretty much everyone wants to be black! It’s like a trend.
And I think Obama’s pastors are bitches. That one that said God damn america needs to move if he don’t like it here.
What’s he bitchin’ about anyways!? I know blacks that have it harder then he does! And don’t get me started on that stupid wanna be black pastor. The real problem is people live in the past. Blacks that think they still have it hard and don’t get rights, and whites that think it should be that way.
And i’m not saying people don’t have a hard life.
I’m just sayin’ it’s not just one race. Poor people have it hard and rich don’t. That goes rich black people, white people, asian, ect.
stop the hateing and the blamming
