Republicans usually favor a smaller, less powerful government, while Democrats believe in a more powerful one- this entails:
for dems- more taxes, universal healthcare, more benefits from government, as well as more civil liberties, less security
for reps- less taxes, more freedom economically, more security in place of civil liberties

It’s all opinion, whether you look at a website or on here. There is no definition of a Republican or Democrat. They are two parties in the United States government.

Republicans: Prefer small government, less taxes, less political correctness, hard on crime, let the people decide what they want to do with their money

Democrats: Prefer big government, more taxes, political correctness, forgiving on crime, use people’s money to put into health care systems, wel-fare etc

If you are a southerner and voting Republican, you are voting for the post Civil War party that destroyed the southern culture and economy in order to continue the domination of the radical Republicans. Their perversion of the military occupation and their carpetbag politicians created extreme debt and division in the South just like they create them in the nation today. IMO No southerner should ever vote Republican.
