Are There Enough Spiritual Gurus Yet?
Posted Sunday, April 11, 2010 by admin
I mean seriously folks, they’re all over the internet, the secret of success, the law of attraction, the seven steps to greater spirituality, on and on and on…
How can something which is promoted by a multi million dollar campaign really be such a ‘secret’ is what I want to know.
Websites with new age pop religious junk, real life “testimonies” by paid actors, books and audio, DVD’s, made in China trinkets, (nothing against the Chinese, but really now)
I thought Tony Robbins had cornered this market years ago?
What do you think? I want to hear some of those “real life testimonies” they must be out there…

I’ve never paid money, with the exception of books on religion, to advance my spirituality. Those are scams and people who fall prey to them most certainly will learn something. They learn not to be victims of internet fraud again.
the day that there will be enough is when the entire world comes to repent . , although it will not happen willingly but it will happen when jesus comes back on judgement day but for those who havent it will be to late. if you want to do it right here right now here is how you can start.
How to Ask Jesus into Your Life
Choosing to submit your life to God is the most significant decision you can ever make.
This choice involves more than simple intellectual agreement that Jesus is God and that He died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins.
Becoming a Christian also requires that you commit the rest of your life to God, to do what He asks of you and to live in accordance with His principles. This decision is not something to be taken lightly. It requires sacrifice and a total reorientation of your life around God rather than yourself. As Jesus said:
“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23).
If you feel you are ready to make this commitment, you can do so right now by telling God you are sorry for your past mistakes, putting your trust in Him and asking Him to make you into the person He created you to be. This step involves faith. You probably still have a number of unanswered questions at this point, but you must be willing to make the decision based on what you know right now and trust God to fill in the details later.
The precise words you use to commit yourself to God are not important. He knows the intentions of your heart. Your prayer can be as simple as “Help!” or it can focus on an issue that is specific to your situation. If you are unsure of what to pray, use the following sample prayers to get started:
Jesus, I want to know You. I want You to come into my life. I’m sorry for the things I’ve done that have broken my relationship with God. Thank You for dying on the cross so that this relationship could be made right. I believe You are the only One who can do this. Only You can give me the power to change and become the person You created me to be. Thank You for forgiving my past mistakes and for giving me eternal life with God. I give my life to You. Please do with it as You wish. Amen.
or
Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.
By praying one of the above prayers or one similar to it, you have just taken a giant step toward making God the centre of your life. But these are just the words. What follows is a lifelong journey of change and growth as you get to know God better through Bible reading, prayer and interaction with other Christians.
If you prayed the prayer above and invited Jesus into your life, you’ve become a Christian – which means simply, “Christ in one.”
they are fake gurus. real children of the sun know material possessions breed rigidity. we need to support ourselves, true, but there is a line.
It’s just new age junk. People want “magic” and don’t want to work for it.
i’ve been reading these kinds of philosophies for over ten years, but this recent stuff is really commercialized.
to answer your first question, i think as long as people need the confidence of someone else to have confidence in what they believe, there will always be ‘gurus’. when people can trust what they think without having to belong to a group for security, we won’t cling to someone else’s philosophies. but at least it’s a self-empowering message. and instead of saying give us all your money/faith, these philosophies say open yourself up to experience more from your life and have faith in yourself.
i don’t belong to groups, i’m an independent minded person, but i have seen the law of attraction work in my life and my family and friends’ lives from wealth, houses, relationships, cars, jobs, and deep lasting happiness. but the only way is to try it. if it feels good it is good.
“the purpose of life is absolute joy, the basis of life is absolute freedom”
Eckhart Tolle is the latest guru that Oprah is endorsing. He appears to be the real deal. Tons of garbage in every avenue of every religion and spiritual new age movement but i’m not willing to throw out the good gurus with the trash. nobody is saying anything new. they are just presenting it in a new way that people may be willing to accept.
More than enough “Spiritual” Gurus in my opinion. Honestly, I really don’t need anyone to instruct me on how to live my life. I feel many of them prey on weak, gullible people.
Have a wonderful day Đantes,
peace and love
my hat off to you, finally a sober thinker….
There all scams. Don’t you know that by now? Most of us in the real world do. Get with the program. Just ignore them; that is what I do. They are all full of CHEESE! Besides did you not know that we are in the age of enlightenment? (I am being sarcastic, I know it would be hard to tell unless I stated it.)
The only people they scam are those who are most gullible, feeble-minded, and easily persuaded. (This was just for effect.)
Personally, I find just about everybody in the Spirituality business saying the same thing with a slightly different personal flavor and vocabulary. I think it is wonderful that a positive and uplifting message is reaching so many and I believe it is because of all the different choices and all the commonality. Even the religions seem to say the same things if you avoid the party line and look at it for yourself.
Funny, as many as there are in the public eye, there are many many more not in the public eye. This is an exciting time for Humanity in my opinion as we move through our own evolution in a way. Some felt the Age of Pisces was the herald for Christianity and now that it has ended, Christianity will tighten it’s reign on the population. Enter the age of Aquarius – characterized by the new, the electric, the internet – and ll these new “paths” as it were. It’s exciting.
Peace!
Dantes,
You know, it never ceases to amaze me that people are still being took by these flavor-of-the-month con-artists! TV Preachers “selling” tapes/books for a “love offering.” Funny, we have access to all these Gurus who offer the answers to life’s problems. Yet more and more Americans are becoming depressed, year after year. And many Americans have to medicate themselves to maintain a state of sanity and functional happiness. It’s really sad that so many people in our society are having to look to others for happiness anymore.
