You know what is pissing me off right now? the stuff I am hearing right now about Kane and this beating cab driver for 20 cent stuff.
this is some of the crap ‘m hearing around the internet:
“Oh he’s young, he’s immaure, he’ll grow out of it to be a good person”
” give the kid a break he’s only 20, he was drunk, we all make mistakes”
I’m sorry but this simply cannot be tolerated, what if that Cab driver was your uncle or your dad or grandpa?
Yet Sidney Crosby as an 18 year old rookie gets slashed in the mouth by Derian Hatcher, in the process he losses to teeth, so Crosby goes and talks to the ref about no call and bam, he’s labeled a diver and whiner for the rest of his life, something that I don’t think he will ever shake because of a few jealous American fans that will IMO never ever produce quite the talent like Crosby or a Gretzky or Lemieux so the next best thing to do? scrutinize and criticize his every move and label him a whiner because in the back of every americans mind, whether they will ever admit it or not, they are just jealous that there pathetic us national development BS will never ever produce a talent like Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Sidney Crosby or Bobby Orr.
But oh no, not Patrick Kane, not america’s golden child, not the face of USA Hockey, they’ll forgive him, he beat a 60 year old cab driver that god forbid, could’ve been your uncle, grandpa or even your dad, but thats alright he’s gonna promote hockey in the states right? an american superstar marketed heavily to american audiences is great for the expansion of the sport right? no beating up a 60 year old helpless cab driver’s for a measily 20 cents is gonna make a dent in the campaign to promote an american star to an american audience, next great midget phenom that is the driving force behind making america the dominant hockey power it will be in 50 years from now right? am I right? Sidney Crosby is who USA wish Patrick can be some day but that simply will never happen, you guys came close with Pat Lafontaine one year in winning the MVP and Art Ross back in 93 but good ole Canadian Mario Lemieux robbed him of the distinction of being the first and only american to win the scoring title and perhaps, MVP in the NHL, and than ole Pat Lafontaine busted his ankle never to ever again challenge for it again, thank goodness we almost had a scare that year in 1993, I’m glad Lemieux robbed him of being the first and to date only MVP and art ross winner haha.
But my main point is that Crosby is still ridiculed to this day over a few rookie mistakes as an 18 year old and his since mattured into a young, 22 year old captain, youngest captain to ever win the Cup, first teenager to win the scoring title in any of the 4 major professional sports, youngest player ever reach 100 and 200 career points, lead the playoffs in scoring last year and lead the playoffs in goal scoring this year, yet Kane will get away with beating up a poor helpless cab driver because of what 20 cents? can’t let that little smidge wreck USA hockey’s little midget poster childs image though right?

Honestly Kane was the USA’s golden boy in my eyes until this happened. Now I don’t even want to watch any game that he is playing in, he’s worse than Avery, atleast he never assaulted anyone. I will now look to Parise as the USA’s new golden boy.

Who cares? It ain’t like the cabbie sat there with his mouth shut and all the bad was done by Kane. The driver has as much to do with the escalation of the incident as the Kane’s.
Keep in mind that even at this point not all of the facts of the incident have been released. In other words, none of us were there.
Another thing, when people say that he’s young, or he’ll grow out of this phase isn’t just static. Those are the facts of life and as long as people are walking the face of the Earth, they will have their opinions.
They would say the same even if he were Jamaican, Russian, or like Tlustly, dare I say CANADIAN? Yeah, two seperate incidents and one common denominator, kids doing stupid things.
I’ve done lots of stupid stuff and in some cases I’m lucky to be able to talk about it. Others have done stupid things. Others will do stupid things. And as long as they are famous it will get some press. There are more important issues going on in our own neighborhoods that require such attention, so why waste time over other peoples opinions about a minor melee that would only garner two minutes in the box if this happened on the ice?
If you want it to die down, then why ask a question about it? If you don’t like what you read about it, then why read about it?
Kane still the best in my opinion and ya like the last guy said it not all Kane’s fault it is also the drivers to it just a case of the caby trying get some extra money. In my eye’s it the caby probably wanting to get some more money out of the kid.

As Bill noted, there are three people who know what happened. The cab driver (who now, it appears, has 2 DUI’s and no driver’s licence…that’s a problem), Kane, and his brother.
You, me, and the rest of the planet don’t know. We shall wait and see what happens.
Until it came up, I didn’t know Kane was American (between him and Toews, I can’t remember which one’s Canadian and which one’s American).
Crosby…lest we forget, before he took a shift in the NHL, he was being hyped as the greatest thing ever, and had endorsement deals, a PR team, and all the trappings. He has done things I don’t like, and while his skill level is undeniable, he does have an element of wanting it both ways (that “other” player he’s compared to so often falls similar victim of seemingly wanting it both ways…if guys hit him like he hit them there would be an uproar); I also take issue with Crosby living with his owner (you’re 22…get an apartment/condo and learn to be an adult, with all the responsibility and challenges that come with). You don’t live with your boss (especially when you’re the captain).
Let’s stop with the American/Canadian crap. It’s boring, and has nothing to do with anything. If Kane were (plug in a non-US country), would it make the case any different? No.
Like Bill, I’ve done boatloads of stupid stuff (my share, your share, and a lot of other people’s share) and a lot of it…explaining details would violate Y!A policy. I was judged against it, and (stop me if this sounds familiar) had to prove myself over and over against people who saw me at my worst.
I agree with everything your saying about crosby. I love him hes one of my favorite players and its complete bullsh*t that hes labeled a whiner and a crier and a baby. Hes the furthest thing from that. Hes one of the strongest players in the Nhl and probably the best overall player. He plays the body, he plays defense, he can score, and he is the best playmaker in the league no doubt. But on Patrick Kanes side I also like him and from what I have been hearing this whole thing is being blown out of proportion. The cab driver apparently doesnt have a drivers license and has 2 DWIs,sounds like a major scumball trying to get some money. Another thing I saw the interview of him the next day from when it happened and he didnt have any cuts or bruises on his face he looked fine its not like Kane and his cousin put the guy in the hospital or something. I think Kane will get let off from what it sounds like. What a scumball if this stuff isnt true and the cab driver was trying to make some money. Anyways great opinion on Crosby I agree 100%
As an American, and a Pens fan, I’d like to point out a few things. In America we have the “innocent until proven guilty” concept built into our legal system, which means that the burden of proof lies with the cabbie, who he, himself says that this incident is blown way out of proportion. He doesn’t seek a felony conviction. If I were brutally beaten by ANYONE, I’d him prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law…. I’m assuming you weren’t a witness to this, so you don’t know the whole story, and Patrick Kane hasn’t even told his side yet, either. Do you know how easy it is to make a police report? I could go right now and tell them that YOU assaulted me, even though I’ve never met you.
Sidney Crosby is one of the best players in the NHL. Do you really think he cares if people think he’s a whiner? He doesn’t need you to defend him; hell, he doesn’t even defend himself. He is very classy guy and lets his play speak for him.
