How will the GOP Swiftboat Hillary? How will they Swiftboat Obama?

Here’s what U.S. News and World Report recently reported about how the RNC is getting ready…
[RNC Chairman Mike] Duncan and his aides want to be ready to go on the offensive against the Democratic nominee presumptive in an effort to define the opposition candidate on GOP terms. Opposition research is already well along, and the plan is for surrogates to talk to the media around the country while a TV ad campaign in key states and media markets as soon as the Democratic nominee is determined.
After the swiftboat and Internet inventing lies will anybody believe Vince Foster conspiracy hoaxes or Muslim lies?
Humble ad interesting. Some of those same people that attacked Kerry with the Swiftboat lies were going after McCain with the same sort of stuff earlier. I guess if you can’t beat them hire them.

Are you kidding? If Hillary gets the nomination, I’ll probably try to invent some of those lies and hoaxes to keep her away from the White House.
The question is not how but when. There is no doubt that Hillary will be much easier to attack because she has a longer voting record and the opposition has been planning to target her for months if not years. On a side note, McCain has hired the same company that created the Swift Boat ad to his campaign.
Whatever the GOP throws at Hillary, it won’t work their way. She went through this for years and look where that brought her-two term New York senator and a viable canidate for the presidency. Obama on the other hand though, too naive and he doesn’t even realize that people have yet to see real Obama, the republicans will do a good job of digging his past.
“Swiftboating,” as it was practiced, is an effort to bring the truth out. If there are people with facts contrary to the official story they should come forward.
I laugh whenever someone carps at the truth emerging, like when John Kerry claimed to act under Nixon’s personal orders not remembering Nixon wasn’t in office at the time.
They’ll bring up Bill Clinton’s policies that they had issues with, while hinting at Obama being a Muslim and militant when he’s neither. It’s almost as the powers that be wanted Hillary and Obama to justify another rigged election. Edwards would have been the best choice, both on the issues (most important) and strategically.
You mean the fact that the clintons had vince foster killed, or the fact that osama, er obama is a muslim who wont even pledge allegiance to the country he wants to lead? two great choices to lead our country.
I think most people believe Hillary would be in prison if she had actually done all that stuff she is accused of. That’s why I think she is more apt to stand up to the Republicans. Obama is just going to be a sitting duck from his own book. I already see articles about Obama being related to Odinga, the head of the opposition party in Kenya. Obama has not been in public life long enough to withstand a Republican attack.
Thomas Jefferson was called a ****** and a murderer during his campaign for the presidency.
It’s hard for me to give a fact-based answer. If I judge by what I read here, then yes, those will be the lies propagated.
However, it’s hard to take this site seriously, since so many of the posters are clearly very young, and others are clearly just trying to stir up nonsense.
I suspect the attempt will be to make much of Obama’s “present” votes on issues painting him as disconnected from his duty, and Clinton will be attacked on the basis of her husband, her business dealings, and her personality.
I don’t think Obama is at all disconnected. I read him as totally sincere. My personal observations about Clinton are that she is brilliant, driven, and stable, not to mention loyal, honest, and likable (She is different in person, it seems, than she sometimes comes across to others in the media). I hope the DNC is also doing research on what the plan will be so that they can fire back with facts.
McCain showed how to do it…in an election, the “rumor” went around that he was a little crazy, so he released his medical report including the mental evaluation! He said, essentially, Okay, NEXT?!
The DNC needs to have its facts ready to say, “Oh, give us a break,” and move on in the same manner.
