How do American Presidential Candidates Campaign to potential voters?

Posted Friday, July 2, 2010 by admin

I’m writing a report for a class, and I need to know the methods used to campaign. I know of the obvious ones such as websites & online videos and TV speeches and debates. But what other methods do they employ?

A lot of lying about their opponent. Well at least not telling the whole truth.

Dumbing themselves down to make the uneducated people feel smart
They present themselves as regular people and establish an emotional connection with the voters
    It’s really pathetic

If you wrote a report for class based on what you read on YA, I would give you an F.

Running for president requires a lot of cramming for speeches and interviews. Presidential candidates have hundreds of advisers that are experts in their field telling the candidates talking points so they come off as experts on everything. They also have teams of investigators and lawyers digging for dirt on the other candidate. Then Candidates hit the campaign trail. They hold rally’s, town hall meetings, give speeches and regurgitate everything their advisers tell them and try to come off as genuinely knowledgeable. In order for the candidates to go on the campaign trail they need volunteers and grassroots organizations to ramp up community participation so they have a large turn outs for each event.

I would concentrate my report on the grassroots part of presidential campaigns
