How do I delete a free aol emailing account?

i have a free aol emailing account. it’s not being paid for or anything. and I need to know how to delete it. I thought this would be easy, but after trying myself for 3 hours, i couldn’t find a thing. Please help!

    To cancel your AOL account, call 1-888-265-8008.

    Or mail AOL at PO Box 65100 / Sterling, VA 20165-8800 or FAX 703-433-7283. Specify that you’re cancelling, give your full name, phone number, address and signature, and either the primary billing contact’s AOL screenname or the last four digits of the current payment method.

    Try the phone number first.

    when you are talking to them ask them if they automatically delete your account after a period of non use…If they do just leave it open so you have the opportunity to go back to it for whatever reason…If they don’t automatically delete it then do as stated at the start…
