Can emailing job application late at night/during the day influence employer’s opinion of you?

I.e. when is the best time of the day to email job application so that the employer doesn’t suspect you’re an insomniac or have no life? Can emailing it at 9 a.m. make any difference on how your potential boss reacts toward you?

Early evening is fine (looks like you’re probably working during the day), but sending past 9 or 10 starts to look a little iffy. I wouldn’t send it at 2 in the morning or anything like that, although it’ll depend on how your job application is processed. At my company, we don’t know what time someone submitted it. But in case they do, don’t submit it very late.

Honestly, Im pretty sure that it doesn’t make a difference. There are too many things that people have to look at on applications, the time you send it is the least of there worries. However, if you are greatly concerned, it is best to email it around 6 or 9 in the morning, since you are then making sure that it is ready to be read whenever is most convenient throughout the day.

It shouldn’t matter a whole lot. The main thing is to send it promptly after the employer asks for it then follow up with a call to confirm they received it. You can go one better by dropping it off in person if that applies in your situation-that way you could ask in person when would be a good time to follow up on it (to see if they have any questions, need more info, if they’ve even looked at it or maybe it could prod them to ask you for an interview!).
