Bored? Feed your brain and the Hungry too?

Posted Thursday, July 15, 2010 by admin

A friend just told me about this site, I thought it seemed cool. Here is the e-mail I got about it:

“A food-linked word game put on the Internet a month ago has proved a runaway success and has already generated enough rice to feed 50,000 people, the United Nations World Food Program said Friday.

FreeRice offers participants multiple-choice definitions to the meaning of a word, with each correct click generating 10 grains of rice for the WFP. The brainchild of American online fund-raising pioneer John Breen, the Web site FreeRice.com relies on advertising revenue to underwrite its rice campaign.

“The site is a viral marketing success story with more than 1 billion grains of rice donated in just one month to help tackle hunger worldwide,” said Josette Sheeran, executive director of the Rome-based WFP. On October 7, the day it was launched, just 830 grains of rice were donated. But the Internet community quickly caught on, and on November 8 alone 77 million grains were donated!!

Community Service for the entire Firm?

Posted Wednesday, May 5, 2010 by admin

I’m in the marketing department of the my firm, and would like to implement a Firm-wide community service event. I’m envisioning a 10 week campaign with a kick off party, teams etc. I’ve done some internet searches on finding the right charities, but I can’t seem to narrow it down. Has anyone been a part of a company wide charitable event? Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Ideas for a charity fundraiser?

I am looking for ideas for fundraisers for my daughter’s charity. I’ve already sent out press releases to local newpapers and new channels. I’ve also set up an email campaign and webpage for donations that goes directly to the charity. Does anyone have any other ideas besides a carwash or bake sale?

How do I contact the Obama campaign?

I’m applying to the National Honors Society and I need community service hours. I’ve spent over a year volunteering for the campaign, but all the letters I’ve gotten are too old to count. I really need to get someone (I don’t need the campaign manager, another volunteer would work). Please help, I’ve done everything I can think of.

What’s a great slogan to use in our soon-to-begin campaign to stop ***** and sexual assaults?

Our new Dallas-based non-profit organization is spearheading campaigns to stop and prevent different aspects of family violence. We’re currently working on media and online campaigns to stop and prevent rapes, sexual assaults and ******. We’re looking for a slogan to use which will help make a difference. We’ll be glad to list the best answer(s) on our website at http://lilliansmith.org. Many thanks!
