Who has heard of the Magnum MAC firm or the 1080 group, both based in NJ?

I recently moved to NJ and looked for jobs on careerbuilder, and these two companies were quick to contact me. I am not trying to raise a scam alert; I am just trying to find as much info as I can. I did attend a prelim interview for each (both have a 3 part interview process), but has anyone actually gone through the whole interview process? Are the positions salaried (not just based on commissions)? I realize I should have asked these questions at the initial meeting, but I thought they would be discussed at the next interview. I am concerned now after reading other articles on careerbuilder scams, especially involving marketing firms that offer entry level positions.

I checked out MagnumMAC.net, but their site was very vague and generic in information. They are located in Wayne, and although the building looked old from the outside, their office was very sleek and modern. All I saw was a receptionist and the guy I interviewed with; there seemed to be no other employees and I never heard the phone ring. I sat down with a Regional Director, who seemed slick because of his fast talking. He mentioned working on campaigns for The Home Depot, Sephora and Liz Claiborne, and said that it’s mainly PR, they don’t actually sell anything. However, he didn’t talk about any current accounts or what companies are being sought after. The interview lasted only 10 minutes, which doesn’t seem like enough time to properly weed out candidates for the next round. Unexpectedly, I was invited to come back, which involves spending half a day with a Marketing Account Manager and the Executive Director, but I have doubts about attending.

Now with 1080 group, I haven’t found anything yet on the internet, but I had a better feeling when interviewing with them. They are located in New Brunswick, in a nice plaza suite. I caught glimpses of people hopping from office to office, discussing documents and answering calls, which made it appear more legit. The Executive Director I spoke with was much more personable, and thoroughly looked over my resume and asked me some tough questions. He explained that the company was working on the Verizon FiOs campaign, expanding its market and securing new accounts. I only now recall there were no posters, signs, or any other marketing materials present in the office. I was called back for round 2, which involves spending a whole day shadowing a current Marketing Account Manager.

I guess I should go with my gut instincts, but I want some feedback on whether they are warranted. I could go to the second interviews, but I would rather not waste 2 days and a tank of gas (since I live relatively far from either location) which could be used to meet with other companies. I hope someone out there can give me more information, or at the very least heed my caution.

Will the new marketing campaign for Old Spice featuring Bruce Campbell revive the brand and increase sales?

I mean, he IS Bruce Campbell after all. And his standards version of Duran Duran’s Hungry Like the Wolf was pretty impressive!

abercrombie winter campaign marketing?

Posted Thursday, August 6, 2009 by admin

i work at abercrombie and my managers have been taking pictures of all the employees. They mentioned that they will be selecting a few to be in a group photo, and that some may be chosen for the winter campaign marketing. Has anyone previously done this and know what it means exactly? Where will these pictures be seen, and what is the campaign…i didnt think abercrombie did advertising like that?

Marketing, Advertising jobs working on ad campaign ideas, slogans. creative thinking?

Posted Wednesday, August 5, 2009 by admin

I’m about to graduate from cleveland state this december with a marketing degree. I love the creativity involved, coming up with ad campaigns, slogans, brand identities… think on your feet, working within a team, presenting your ideas to prospective clients and all that. For each of my past bout 5 classes our semester project was to break into teams and come up with a comprehensive ad campaigh for a specified company… I loved it and always seemed to do great. The problem is i can’t seem to find a job that entailes those aspects of marketing. All i seem to find are jobs doing door to door sales, brand sales reps, and mortgage borking. I want to find a job working for a company that is contracted out by other companys to come up with ideas for their marketing needs. To be creative and be rewarded for such. Is this just a pipe dream… do such jobs exist, and if so where do i find them? Would going to a head hunter be a good idea? Also i wouldn’t mind relocating at all.
I’ve had about two years experience in sales. In home, face to face, over the phone, b2b just about every aspect. I don’t have much experience in marketing but feel i still have alot to offer. I like the idea of an internship, and am financially stable enough to work a few months without pay but at the same time i really want to start making money. How would a company react if i called or went to the office and asked to do an internship? Isn’t that something they need to advertise for… or would they be willing to just give some guy a chance? Also i’m still at a lose… not sure what credentials to look for in a company. I would like to find one that has what i stated above but what are those companies called ad agencies… what should i ask for to narrow it down? Sorry if i sound like a dumb *** but i’m new at this stuff i feel like i’m being thrown in with the sharks blind… and wishing i wouldve started searching earlier.
