I have some items to sell, but UsedCalgary.com is offline as often as it is online these days. Does anyone know of another free online classifieds site I could use?

I have used Google AdSense, however I would like to use a different service to earn revenue on my website. Which are the best?

I know most sites use this to make money to keep their sites up and running, and to also allow free content. However I can’t help but notice an increase in the number of ads you see on a site, and how they are in unnecessary spots. For example, when you goto to some sites to watch videos, a 15-30 second ad plays before. Now I’m not saying I’m impatient or anything but when you want to watch a video, you want to see the video and only the video. Plus when you watch numerous ones, do you really want to see the same four ads over and over? It may not be a big deal now, but in the future this may get out of hand. Do you think these types of ads even work? I’d like to hear from both sides of the agruement as to good reasons or bad reasons to internet advertising. Thanks in advance!

I have a new web service I want to start, and I am trying to decide what is the best revenue model – making it free with ads, or charging fees for service levels. I don’t know what I can reasonably expect to make with internet ads, nor who is the best ad provider to work with. And does it matter what kind of ads, like banners or words or pop-ups?

“The more people use it, the more powerful the market place is. The more powerful the market place becomes, the more people will use it.”
But size is not everything, as eBay and Yahoo! have learned to their cost. Alibaba claims more than a 70% share of the business-to-business, consumer-to-consumer online payment and auction businesses. Despite its deep pockets and an aggressive marketing campaign, eBay has yet to make a dent.

Microsoft and AT&T are complaining that this acquisition will/has transformed Google into a monopoly. It’s scary to think that these large multi-billion dollar companies, who have both been accused of holding too much share over their markets, are cringing in the wake of Google’s acquisition of DoubleClick. What are your thoughts?
