Reasonable questions for unreasonable times?

Posted Friday, July 30, 2010 by admin

This question is for all of the liberal dems out there. Please take one of the following questions and try to answer it with FACTS.

- Why do we need a civilian force?

- Who is posing a threat to us?

- Who will this “force” be made up of?

- Who is the real enemy?

- Does the president know of a coming event? If not, who builds an army against an unrecognized enemy?

- Why won’t the media get off their ***** and look into these radicals in the White House? And into this civilian army?

- Why does the FCC have a diversity “czar”?

- Who is Mark Lloyd and how does he plan to “balance” the airwaves?

- Will he bring back the Fairness Doctrine or worse?

- Cass Sunstein once said he wants to balance the Internet; is that next?

- Will broadcasters who leave the airwaves be allowed to go to satellite or Internet without government regulation?

- Is there any place (that has a mass audience) where the government wont regulate free speech?

- Why does it seem every member of the Obama advisory team hates capitalism, unless those companies (like G.E.) are in bed with the administration?

If Lloyd has his way, stations who don’t comply to the governments definition of the “public interest” will have to pay a massive fine — that helps support public broadcasting:

- What will be the definition of “public interest”?

- Who defines “public interest”?

- Why should it be balanced? Because it’s public airwaves? (Well, there are public roads that go by my house and I don’t count how many Republicans and Democrats are driving on them)

- Who is “surrounding” the President in the White House?

– Do any of the President’s advisers have criminal records?

– Are the President’s advisers working to better the country or their own ideals?

– Who are the anti-capitalists in Washington?

– What roles do they have in crafting bills?

– What was “STORM”? What happened to the founders, where are they now?

– What qualifications must one have to be a Presidential adviser?

– What is the difference between a community organizer and a community activist?

– Do the czars have power?

– Should a communist have the ear of the President of the United States?

– What role did the Apollo Alliance play in crafting bills?

– Does the President know the co-founder of the Weather Underground is a board member of the Apollo Alliance?

– How many people in the administration are connected to the movement for a democratic society?

– What role does George Soros play… CONSTITUTIONALLY?

Day 1
- Our unfunded liability for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is close to $100 trillion. Is there any way to pay for these programs without bankrupting America?

- We are in so much debt, why spend more borrowed money on cap-and-trade and healthcare programs before we stop the flow of red-ink?

- The stimulus package funneled billions of dollars to ACORN. How does giving billions of dollars to ACORN stimulate the economy?

- If it was so important for congress to pass the stimulus bill before they even had time to read it why has only a fraction of the stimulus money been spent 6 months later?

- Bush said he had to abandon free market principles in order to save them, how exactly does that work?

- Why won’t members of Congress read the bills before they vote on them?

- Why are citizens mocked and laughed at when they ask their congressman to read the bills before they vote on them?

- Was the cash-for-clunkers program meant to save the earth or the economy? Did it accomplish either?

- How did Van Jones, a self-proclaimed communist become a special advisor to the president?

- Did President Obama know of Van Jones’ radical political beliefs when he named him special advisor?

- The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for writing the stimulus bill—why was this group allowed to write any portion of this bill?

- If politicians aren’t writing the bills and aren’t reading the bills, do they have any idea what these 1000 page plus bills actually impose on the American people?

- If the ‘public option’ health care plan is so good why won’t politicians agree to have that as their plan?

- If town hall meetings are intended for the politicians to learn what’s on our mind—why do they spend so much time talking instead of listening?

- Politicians are refusing to attend town hall meetings complaining, without evidence, that they are scripted. Does that mean we shouldn’t come out and vote for you since every campaign stop, baby kiss and speech you give is scripted?

- Why would you want to overwhelm the system?

- Is using the economic crises to rush legislation through congress what Rahm Emanuel meant when he talked about “not letting a crises go to waste”?

- What are the czars paid? What is the budget for their staffs/offices?

JUST ANSWER ONE OF THESE

Do u agree w/ this statement by Ron Paul that Federal Reserve transparency thru audit is needed?

Posted Sunday, July 18, 2010 by admin

“Before the Committee on Financial Services, Humphrey Hawkins Hearing on Monetary Policy, U.S. House of Representatives, July 21, 2009

Mr. Chairman, at a time when we find ourselves once again receiving a report on the Federal Reserve’s conduct of monetary policy, it is more important than ever that we in the Congress push for more effective oversight and transparency of the Federal Reserve System. It would be unconscionable for this body, especially after the financial crisis of the last two years, not to take forceful and deliberate action to bring more transparency to the Fed.

A common misconception is that the Fed is completely independent of political pressure, and that any attempt to oversee or audit the Fed would jeopardize that independence. While the Fed has far too much authority to make agreements with foreign governments and central banks, or create temporary liquidity facilities, the governors and, more importantly, the chairman, are appointed by the President. The chairman is the dominant figure within the Board of Governors and the Federal Open Market Committee, the public face of the Fed, and he must be reappointed by the President every four years, with the advice and consent of the Senate. Thus, his job security as chairman is dependent on keeping the President and the Senate pleased. Every time the chairman acts, it is with the knowledge that within four years he will be forced to justify his actions to the President and the Senate.

Meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee, the committee responsible for conducting monetary policy and setting interest rates, are held in secret. Minutes are released after three weeks, and transcripts after five years. The ostensible reasons for this secrecy are that too much openness will either hamper the freedom of FOMC participants to discuss issues freely, or that markets will be unnerved. However, this is not really a condemnation of transparency, but rather a sign that far too much power has been given to one tiny organization.

We here in the Congress hold our committee hearings publicly, broadcast on C-SPAN and over the Internet. We are the most powerful branch of the government and our decisions have no less effect on the lives of everyday Americans than the decisions of the Fed. More importantly, our discussions have a direct impact on our ability to win re-election. Every word we speak can be used against us in our campaigns for re-election. It would be far easier for us to hold hearings in secret and release minutes and transcripts well after the fact. Yet we understand that the American people deserve to know not only what comes out of Congress, but also what goes on in the legislative process.

In the same way, it is vital that the American people understand what is going on inside the Fed. Attempts at enhanced transparency and auditing of the Fed’s auctions are not intended to dictate monetary policy to the Fed or second-guess the Fed’s actions. To my knowledge not a single legislative proposal put forward thus far has this as its intended goal. We as Congressmen have the ultimate responsibility for keeping the Fed in check, but how can we fulfill that duty if we do not know what the Fed is doing? Greater transparency is the first step, and only then can we begin to perform effective oversight. Given the Fed’s abysmal stewardship of the dollar and repeated fumbling of financial crises, we owe this to the American people.
The last… this is what he said.

If we look at campaign finance/campaign contributions as a market, what is being sold and what is being bought?

Posted Friday, June 25, 2010 by admin

it could be viewed two ways:
1. politicians supply access, campaign donors demand access and pay for it with campaign funds
2. campaign donors supply campaign funds, politicians demand campaign funds and pay for it with access

if you look at the relationship between big $$ donors and politicians, you see campaign funds and political access are the two things being traded in this market. but who is the seller and who is the buyer? who has the upper hand?

What you’ll get from a President Giuliani?

Posted Thursday, June 17, 2010 by admin

Presidential Commitments
What you’ll get from a President Giuliani.

By Rudy Giuliani

I am making 12 Commitments to the American People. They are intended to lift our vision from the rearview mirror to the road ahead. If I am elected president, I want to be held accountable for the progress we make as a nation.

1) I will keep America on offense in the Terrorists’ War on Us.

Winning the terrorists’ war on us is the greatest responsibility of the 9/11 Generation. We need to continue taking the fight to the Islamic fundamentalist terrorists by increasing the size, strength, and support of our military — beginning with ten new Army combat brigades.

2) I will end illegal immigration, secure our borders and identify every non-citizen in our nation.

We can end illegal immigration with tough but realistic laws that put security first. We need to secure the border with a physical fence and a technological fence. We need to require a tamper-proof I.D. card for all non-citizens coming into the United States and tracking their entry and exit. And we need to encourage Americanization by requiring new citizens to read, write, and speak English.

3) I will restore fiscal discipline and cut wasteful Washington spending.

Over the next two presidential terms, 42 percent of the federal civilian workforce is due to retire. We should only hire back half, replacing non-essential workers with technology. I’ll ask agency heads to identify annual budget cuts of 5 to 20 percent. With entitlement costs scheduled to explode, we need fiscal discipline to avoid passing an unsupportable burden on to the next generation.

4) I will cut taxes and reform the tax code.

Pro-growth policies lead to broader prosperity. The next president needs to simplify the tax code and keep taxes low — including the personal income tax, the capital-gains tax and the corporate tax. And we can eliminate double taxation and protect family businesses by giving the Death Tax the death penalty.

5) I will impose accountability on Washington.

We need to restore Americans’ faith that government can work again. That’s why we’ll implement the first constant measurement of government effectiveness, known as “FedStat,” and put the results online so the public can hold agencies accountable.

6) I will lead America towards energy independence.

We must decrease America’s dangerous dependence on foreign oil. We can meet this challenge through diversification of our energy portfolio, innovation, and conservation. We must increase public and private investment in nuclear power, clean coal, and alternative-energy sources across the board. America must lead the world in energy-efficient, environmentally responsible, commercially viable innovation, including wind, solar, geo-thermal, ethanol, and biofuel technologies.

7) I will give Americans more control over their health care with affordable and portable free-market solutions.

We can improve the quality of health care while decreasing costs through increased competition. Solutions can include reforming the tax treatment of health care, expanding portable health-savings accounts, encouraging state-by-state innovations, and reforming the legal system.
8) I will increase adoptions, decrease abortions, and protect the quality of life for our children.
We need to take advantage of the common ground in America to reduce abortions by increasing adoptions and assuring that individual choice is well informed. We need to measure our progress toward these goals. We need to reduce the high costs of adoption. And we need to protect our children against sexual predators and online pornography.

9) I will reform the legal system and appoint strict constructionist judges.

America must reform its legal system. We need to eliminate nuisance lawsuits through “loser-pays” provisions. Tort reform can help us reduce costs passed on to the consumer, such as higher insurance premiums. Activist judges threaten to expand the power of the courts beyond the bounds established by the Constitution; we must reassert the proper balance.

10) I will ensure that every community in America is prepared for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

Homeland security and national security are now inseparable. We need to ensure that local first responders are trained to meet natural disasters as well as terrorist attacks. We must improve information-sharing between local, state, and federal authorities. And we need to repair vulnerable infrastructure to minimize the impact of terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

11) I will provide access to a quality education to every child in America by giving real school choice to parents.

Education reform is a civil-rights struggle and the key to improving America’s competitiveness in the global economy. We need to empower parents and children by expanding school choice. We need to promote math and science, while ending the digital divide.

12) I will expand America’s involvement in the global economy and strengthen our reputation around the world.

We need to strengthen our country by engaging aggressively the global economy. The mission of the State Department needs to be focused on acting first and foremost as an advocate for America. Fostering trade and educational and cultural exchange will promote the expansion of freedom.

These 12 Commitments offer an action plan to focus America on the future. Over the course of this campaign, I’m going to present each policy in greater detail. And when we get to Washington, we’re going to put these ideas into action. Guided by these 12 Commitments, we will hand our nation over to the next generation far better than it was handed to us.

2.7 million people to lose medicare advantage coverage under Obamacare, rest of MA to cut benefits? Baucus?

Posted Tuesday, June 15, 2010 by admin

tries to stifle companies from disclosing this?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204488304574431212166204156.html

“On Tuesday, the Congressional Budget Office director told Mr. Baucus’s committee that its plan to cut $123 billion from Medicare Advantage—the program that gives almost one-fourth of seniors private health-insurance options—will result in lower benefits and some 2.7 million people losing this coverage….

Imagine that. Last week Mr. Baucus ordered Medicare regulators to investigate and likely punish Humana Inc. for trying to educate enrollees in its Advantage plans about precisely this fact. Jonathan Blum, acting director of a regulatory office in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), said that a mailer Humana sent its customers was “misleading and confusing to beneficiaries, who may believe that it represents official communication about the Medicare Advantage program.”

Mr. Blum has also banned all Advantage contractors from telling their customers what Mr. Elmendorf has just told Congress. Mr. Blum happens to be a former senior aide to Mr. Baucus and a health adviser on the Obama transition team.

Meanwhile, we have the case of the Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons (AARP), and its fanciful Medicare claims. The self-styled seniors lobby is using all its money and influence to cheer on ObamaCare, even though polls show that most retired persons oppose it. AARP has spent millions of dollars on its TV ad campaign and bulletins and newsletters to its members, including eight million direct-mail letters over Labor Day. The AARP Web site claims that it is a “myth” that “health care reform will hurt Medicare,” while it is a “fact” that “none of the health care reform proposals being considered by Congress will cut Medicare benefits or increase your out-of-pocket costs.”

So why hasn’t AARP also come under CMS scrutiny? Could that be because AARP, which markets its own branded Advantage plans with United HealthCare that have 1.7 million enrollees, is a reliable liberal ally? Certainly its claims are “misleading and confusing”—given that in this instance it is empirically untrue, unlike Humana’s attempt at edification. Seniors might even think AARP’s falsehoods represent official communication about the Medicare Advantage program. But don’t expect Mr. Baucus or CMS to impose its *** rule on the AARP’s pro-ObamaCare advocacy.
What do you think?
tonalc, and the same principles didn’t apply to AARP’s mailings and web page, why, exactly?

I think the marketing people in Hilary’s campaign did a great job turning out the female over fifty voters.

what do you think?

Did you know that someone can find your campaign contributions online?

Posted Friday, June 4, 2010 by admin

I just found this. http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/ I know, I know, its the huffington post. I’m not a big fan either. However, you can search for people by name, address, city or zip to see who has donated, who they donated to, and how much. It goes back a few years as well.

I’m just trying to check to see if this is accurate. If you donated any money, is it on here? You don’t have to say how much or to who, I’m just wondering if this is true. I’ve never donated money, and from what I’ve looked up, neither has anyone I know.

So, my question is 1) Did you know you could look this up 2) Is it accurate?
All you guys knew this? Wow, I must be getting old, I had no idea. I didn’t know that it was public information.

And no, I’m not ashamed of who I vote for. I work for the government. I never make any contributions as I get a new boss every few years, and they have a tendancy to look into peoples past political contributions, party affiliation and the like, and hold it against them.

The Speech President Bush should give?

Posted Saturday, May 22, 2010 by admin

We all have our disagreements with President Bush. Immigration, U.S.
Attorney firings, Iraq, Darfur, etc. are all hot topics these days. The
following “speech” was written yesterday by an ordinary Maineiac. While
satirical in nature, all satire must have a basis in fact to be effective.
An excellent piece by a person who does not write for a living. Sent with
the author’s permission.

The speech George W. Bush SHOULD give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying “My Fellow Americans.”
Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don’t know who
more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has
happened, and that you’re really not fellow Americans any longer.

I’ll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in
a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution
or something, let me assure you: there’s been no breaking of laws or
impeachable offenses in this office.
The reason I’m quitting is simple. I’m fed up with you people.
I’m fed up because you have no understanding of what’s really going
on in the world. Or of what’s going on in this once-great nation of ours. And
the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it
out. Let’s start local. You’ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians
and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is
in the tank. And that’s despite record numbers of homeowners including record
numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we’re mentioning minorities,
I’ll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our
unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton
Administration. I’ve mentioned all those things before, but it doesn’t
seem to have sunk in.

Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has
rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these
markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of
you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because
there’s increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful
of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property
than your economic security.
We face real threats in the world. Don’t give me this “blood for oil”
thing. If I was trading blood for oil I would’ve already seized Iraq’s oil
fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don’t give me this
‘Bush Lied People Died’ crap either. If I was the liar you morons take me
for, I could’ve easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could
be ‘discovered.’ Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was
faulty. Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had
the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was
official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ‘Clinton’
established that policy. Bet you didn’t know that, did you?
You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back
during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models
squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the
Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to
outspend and out-tech them.
That’s not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don’t
care if they survive. In fact, they w ant to die. That’d be fine, as long as
they weren’t also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But
they are. They want to kill you. And the bastards are all over the globe.
You should be grateful that they haven’t gotten any more of us here
in the United States since September 11. But you’re not. That’s because
you’ve got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law
enforcement and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that.
When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and
difficult fight. I’m disappointed how many of you people think a long and
difficult fight amounts to a single season of ‘Survivor’.

Instead, you’ve grown impatient. You’re incapable of seeing things
through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that
wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.
Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy.
Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a
cut-and-run Democrat’s political campaign, well, dammit, you might just as
well Fedex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.
In this day and age, it’s easy enough to find the truth. It’s all
over the Internet. It just isn’t on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC
News. But even if it were, I doubt you’d be any smarter. Most of you would
rather watch American Idol.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will
always be there to bail you out, even if you’re too stupid to leave a city that’s
below sea level and has a hurricane approaching. I could say more about
your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money
comes from. But I’ve come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail
right over your heads.

So I quit. I’m going back to Crawford. I’ve got an energy-efficient
house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully
self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and
as soon as I’m done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe
I’ll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.
Oh, and by the way, Cheney’s quitting too. That means Pelosi is your
new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I
still have a glimmer of hope that there’re just enough of you remaining who are
smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that’s it. God bless what’s left of America. Some of you know what I
mean.

The rest of you can kiss my ****.

Can you list the reasons why Bill Clinton was the WORST PRESIDENT of the last 25 years?

Posted Friday, May 14, 2010 by admin

ignored Al Qaeda and allowed it to become our biggest enemy during his 8 years in office… illusory stock market bubble propped up by internet speculation completely burst… more families having to take 2nd jobs in order to keep up with increased taxes… tried to get Bill Richardson to give Monica Lewinsky a job at the UN so she wouldn’t pursue sexual harassment claim… allowed companies like Enron, World Com, Global Crossing, etc to break many laws during the late ’90s via lack of SEC oversight… afraid to arrest bin Laden in Sudan due to “lack of evidence”…. bombed Iraq on December 16, 1998 because of its WMD… asked Saudi Arabian princes for million dollar contributions to his presidential library instead of asking for wanted suspects in 1996 Khobar Towers bombing… shook down the Chinese for tens of millions of dollars for his 1996 re-election campaign…
